Inspired by pattern from clothing in Jacobean portraits, this candlestick is hand thrown in black clay with hand painted white slip decoration influenced by the black and white drama of 17th century dress. The base and candleholder have hand made applied sprig details and the decorative bosses on the body of the piece are painted with sliver lustre to catch the candlelight.
